Cosmydor from Jules Cheret to Grems Special Edition 1891-2020

COSMYDOR x GREMS SPECIAL EDITIONS

From the end of the 19th century, Cosmydor stood out for the originality of its fragrances and the creative audacity of its packaging. Jules Chéret, who was one of the first artists to depict women in advertising images and whose burlesque style is characterised by its density, level of detail and embellishments, first collaborated with Cosmydor in 1891. This collaboration led to the brand’s historic success and earned it several awards at the Paris World’s Fair in 1900.

Loyal to its creative DNA, 129 years later, the brand asked Grems, one of the most talented French artists of his generation, to freely reinterpret this design legacy.

Known for his rich shape-shifting style, Grems is a versatile artist who has successfully broken free from street art stereotypes of little substance. His exhibitions enjoy international success. He founded Colorama Festival, is regularly involved in major street art events and has created a whole host of public artworks, including for the Southbank Centre in London and the Beaubourg area of Paris.

As part of this explosive collaboration, three graphic designs have been created and printed on the boxes of the C/1, C/2 and C/3 face creams in our Intense Skincare range.

These designs served as inspiration for various artworks which were on display in a pop-up gallery at 16 boulevard des Filles du Calvaire, 75011 Paris in February 2020.
